About the Artwork
Acrylic on canvas, spatula technique, painting, drawing, silhouette, collage, embroidery, 2023 This work was created in light of the severe earthquakes in Syria and Turkey. The yarn of the frames is in the colors of the nations that sent help, among them Ukraine and Russia. In the face of such a natural disaster, the equally destructive man-made conflicts seem even more senseless. The masks represent guardian spirits from all over the world. They are supposed to protect, at least in this picture, the family depicted on it, representative of the people in these areas.
About the Artist
The artist about her work: "Since I can think, color-form and material compositions exert a strong fascination on me. The combination of often several materials and forms of expression such as painting and drawing with various printing, dyeing and textile techniques are characteristic of my work. The resulting relief effect gives the light from every angle differently, the appropriate material picks up the meaning of a theme on another level. Mainly I implement personal experiences, nature and travel impressions, as well as current events, and would like to tell the viewers a story- even more I am happy when they find their own story a bit in my work."
